Terraria Update [1.0.5]

There was a pretty big update for Terraria on June 23rd. I’ll be covering as much as we could find.

First of all the guide is actually useful now. He now has a box that you can place ‘Materials’ into and it will show you recipes involving that item.

E3: Microsoft Conference

Microsoft Stage

Microsoft is really pushing Kinect this year. I mean I guess its cool they are supporting the people who purchased one, I still find it creepy. Most of the ‘hardcore’ games made for Kinect act like rail-shooters, maybe this would be awesome for ports of Time Crisis or House of the Dead, but games like Fable and Ghost Recon seem odd.

The presentation started with some campaign footage of Modern Warfare 3. As Call of Duty games tend to play, it resembled a playable movie. The problem is, no matter how nice the campaign looks, people pretty much only care about multi-player with the CoD series. It’s launching November 8th 2011 and DLC will be available on Xbox live first. More

Phoenix Comicon [Friday 5.27.2011]

Due to some technical difficulty, I cant get any of the pictures I took with my camera up today. I should have that fixed by tomorrow though.

First I have to say going to these conventions alone kinda sucks, but I met up with a couple friends after about an hour and that’s when it started being a lot of fun.

This is the only costume I got a picture of with my phone. I think he was getting ready for a Zombie Walk outside, either way his costume was really awesome. I like the way the personality core looks.

Now you’re thinking with Potatoes! – Portal 2

If you haven’t played the first Portal game, go get it. Portal 2′s storyline is fine on it’s own, but you’ll get a ton more enjoyment out of it having knowledge of what happened before. Also, why haven’t you played Portal?

The writing in this game is brilliant, I actually found myself laughing out loud at a few points and I’ll admit that I teared up a little at the ending. Adding more characters was a great choice as it helped make the game feel richer and more in depth. Ellen McLain did a fantastic job yet again with GLaDOS and Stephen Merchant as Wheatley added some really fun dialog. I had just as much of an interest hearing what they had to say next as I did completing the next challenge. More

Minecraft Server [4.10.2011]

It’s been a while since I’ve typed up a report on our server and a lot has changed.

We’ve added a few mods, some out of necessity and others just for fun.

  • LWC was added due to an increase in theft. It allows players to lock and password protect chests, furnaces, despencers, signs, and even doors.
  • mcMMO is a fun plugin, it adds some MMORPG elements to Minecraft. Players can level up skills in excavation, woodcutting, archery, acrobatics and more. It also allows players to form parties which turn off friendly damage, allow party chat to be toggled, and let them teleport amongst each other.
  • BOSEconomy helps eliminate the constant nagging for items. Players can trade ‘Digicoins’ for items, and receive an hourly (based on playtime) income.
  • RealShop works with BOSEconomy and allows players to buy/sell items and blocks for Digicoins.

Many users have started some big projects. Mostly people are building cities/towns.

Of course we have Gibaoranshire (featured in the Boom Night! [2.25.2011] post) run by Derongan.

New Playlist featuring artists from Scrub Club Records

New Playlist featuring artists from Scrub Club Records

If you haven’t noticed yet, we have recently added a play list with some awesome nerdy music. I chatted with MadHatter, artist and founder of Scrub Club Records, before we even started DigiSama to make sure there wouldn’t be any problems sharing their music. I knew I wanted to promote Nerdcore Hip Hop in some way and SCR produces some amazing work, so it seemed like the perfect choice.

If you paid close enough attention, you will notice there are a couple of songs by our very own Maros on the play list as well. He is not part of Scrub Club, just to clear up any confusion. :P

I might start up a monthly rotation of the songs, so let me know what your favorites are. Hell, go check out the music at ScrubClubRecords.com and tell me what I should add. Do you know any independent nerd music artists? E-mail me. Spike3007@digisama.com

Official DigiSama Minecraft Server

Official DigiSama Minecraft Server

Well, that went well.

I launched our server today, and posted it on our forums then I posted it on the Minecraft Forums. A few good people came on, then a flood. Next thing I knew the whole world was burning down. I took down our IP and am waiting on an installation of Hmod. The server will be whitelisted. I wanted it to be public, but unfortunately that’s just not going to work.

Check back with us for news. Feel free to join our forums, and post in the server thread if you’re interested in joining.

Booster Trooper

Booster Trooper

Booster Trooper is very easy to pick up and play. Obviously designed for multiplayer, it doesn’t contain any storyline or campaign. Booster Trooper is like Quake meets Contra, a 3D side-scrolling frag-fest with jetpacks. When you start a game you’re given a few options like choosing your character, weapon loadout, and team color. There are five guns you can choose from, two side arms, and two types of grenades. All of the guns have different functions, but the ‘run and gun’ tactic works no matter the weapon. The grenades are almost identical, one explodes on contact, the other is detonated when you hit the grenade button again, but neither is very effective unless you hit an enemy dead-on.
