E3: Microsoft Conference

Microsoft Stage

Microsoft is really pushing Kinect this year. I mean I guess its cool they are supporting the people who purchased one, I still find it creepy. Most of the ‘hardcore’ games made for Kinect act like rail-shooters, maybe this would be awesome for ports of Time Crisis or House of the Dead, but games like Fable and Ghost Recon seem odd.

The presentation started with some campaign footage of Modern Warfare 3. As Call of Duty games tend to play, it resembled a playable movie. The problem is, no matter how nice the campaign looks, people pretty much only care about multi-player with the CoD series. It’s launching November 8th 2011 and DLC will be available on Xbox live first. More

E3 Review: Sony Presentation

First of all, I was NOT impressed with this presentation by Sony. Then again, ever since the announcement of the Playstation 3 I haven’t been impressed with ANYTHING Sony has tried to do. But, since it’s E3 time, I’m mainly the PS3 gamer of the group- it’s time for me to cover the Sony conference and tell YOU- the avid reader everything that will be coming out soon with the Sony line. So, strap into your chairs because THIS is one hell of a ride.

Playstation's Family- PS3, Move, Vita, Glasses

The opening video was absolutely awesome, there was a very dubstep sounding song playing in the background with all of the present (and future) devices and games offering a fun little montage of ways to waste your money.

E3: Nintendo Conference

Nintendo’s been known recently to have a roller coaster experience for E3. Last year showed that Nintendo cared for it’s core gamer still. This year Nintendo Showed that they still care about their core gamers, and want to turn casual gamers into core gamers.

The Nintendo conference started off with an Orchestra playing familiar Zelda tunes to a video made to show off the Legend of Zelda’s 25 year history. To end the video, new footage of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword was shown as the orchestra played it’s main theme.

When the video was done, Shigeru Miyamoto comes on stage and Bill Trinnen translates for him. They mention that since they have the orchestra, they should make use of them. Playing several small but highly familiar tunes from the Zelda series. A highlight was Miyamoto performing the opening of a chest while the Orchestra played.

WELCOME BACK! We have a lot of patience to test.

WELCOME BACK! Seriously, you suffered because of someone else’s mess-ups, and now you get some free stuff! Awesome!
If only PSN had the ability to handle enough traffic to allow users to not only DOWNLOAD their games but actually benefit from using other parts of the store without getting the 80710D36 error, which means “Please oh please don’t use me too!!! I’m sooooo tired.” Or failed to access due to traffic. I like the former better. For those of you who DON’T know (you must have been under a rock to NOT hear about this), PSN was hacked by an Unknown party causing servers to be down for 23 days. After servers go back up, they give you a bunch of free shwag… which include:

Seriously, you tell them Slowpoke

The Nintendo Rumor Mill: The Wii 2?

The Nintendo Rumor Mill: The Wii 2?

With E3 just around the corner, everyone is looking for the next big thing. Enter Nintendo. It’s not much of a secret that the Nintendo Wii is lacking in power compared to the X-Box 360 and PlayStation 3. Nintendo aims to fix this issue. Or so the rumors say.

At E3, it is slated that Nintendo is going to be announcing their newest gaming console.
According to the french website 01net: the new console, code named “Project Cafe” is said to be capable of HD gaming. With an IBM PowerPC processor,a series R700 GPU and a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, it will be more powerful than the current generation of home consoles.

Other rumors surrounding the console is that it will be considered to be backwards compatible with the Wii software. The controller is rumored to have a touch screen built into it. It seems that Nintendo is taking hints from their own handhelds, and a little bit of Sega’s past efforts with the Dreamcast VMU

So far everything is just a rumor. As it is a rumor, Nintendo will not confirm nor deny that any information stated is truth or fiction. Until Nintendo makes an actual announcement or E3. all we can go by is the interesting and somewhat promising rumors that are floating around.
